All About My Haircut and Color
Hair + Color By: Lindsey Jessogne at Hobbs Salon + Med Spa
As you may have seen, I recently shared my visit to the hair salon a few days ago and surprisingly I got a few questions on what I normally get when I go so I thought it be fun to do a blog post all about my haircut and color. So let’s back track a bit because my hair has not always looked this way. Prior to now what I consider routine maintenance on my hair, I did do balayage to help lighten my hair at my very first appointment and most likely will not do that again until the Spring / Summer when the weather warms up. So in general, I will most likely do any type of balayage 1-2 time a year.
Ok, let’s now chat all things haircut and color! For the most part, I normally rotate between two different hair cut styles which is normally long layers or more of a blunt cut which is what I did at my last visit. Please keep in mind that the way you style your hair also plays a big part as well. In general my hair is probably medium thickness and is mainly straight however here recently, I have noticed a little more natural wave as I’ve gotten older. I typically see my stylist every 8 weeks but sometimes I may see her sooner and I think anywhere from 6-8 weeks is typical. Now when I do come in for my appointment, I know that we will be coloring, cutting and then depending on the state of my hair color, we may also do a gloss which I got several messages on when I shared that. I did ask Lindsey to help me explain what a gloss is and actually helps condition and add shine to your hair. Gloss can alter the color of your hair and can take out warmth or add warmth without putting permanent color in the hair as long as your hair as been lifted to the correct level. I don’t get a gloss every single visit but mainly when I noticed my color is slightly more brassy. My current routine is an all over color to cover my grays which is just my roots area and then I normally always trim or cut my hair to keep it healthy and get rid of any split or dry ends. I also will have her thin out my hair if needed and trim my bangs but keep them long so I can still swoop them over to the side without having them in my face or eyes. As for color, I would say it’s more a caramel color and each time I come in, Lindsey will mix the color to what I am wanting at that time but in general, that is the color that works best for me.
As I was chatting with Lindsey on what we normally do on my hair so I could share with you today, one thing that is very important from a Stylist aspect is to use good products to maintain your color so it will not fade as quickly and always have several different pictures of what you like and what you don’t like so your stylist can help get the look you want. So there you have it, a little run down on what I do personally for my haircut and color and hopefully you were able to find this helpful. In general, hair is personal thing in my opinion and you should be able to have a open and honest conversation with your Stylist and if you can’t, I would suggest finding a new one. Be realistic with your request and keep in mind your lifestyle and what it would consist of to maintain . After each hair appointment, I always get my hair curled with loose beach waves and they always do such an amazing job!
Lindsey is not currently taking any new clients at this time but she did mention you could reach out to her via DM and she could give you a wonderful referral. If you have any additional questions, feel free to leave them in the comments and I would be happy to answer them!
