And Then There Was Five -- We Adopted a Puppy!

And then there was five — we adopted a puppy! Ya’ll, meet Snug!

He is an Aussie Mix , the only boy in the liter, the runt and we love him so much! We knew we wanted to adopt and have been looking for a while now but never came across the perfect puppy for our family until we came across Snug a few weeks before Christmas. The Mister actually meet him first and instantly fell in love with him and I did too so we decided what a better gift and surprise for our boys then a puppy so we submitted our adoption paperwork and hoped for the best. We adopted Snug from Puppy Haven Rescue and being the first time to adopt a dog, the process was so easy and organized. I felt very equipped by the time we left with Snug on how to care for him, feed him, etc. If you are looking at adopting anytime in the near future, I would highly recommend Puppy Haven Rescue as we have been so pleased with the process.

We adopted Snug when he was 8 weeks old and let me tell you, I was not prepared for the first couple of nights and all the crying that was going to happen. It honestly was like having a newborn again with the constant crying and needing to be let out. One of my good friends recommended an app that she used when she had puppies and I have to say, it really has helped us a lot. It is called Puddles and Piles and you basically track each time they go and it helps track their routine and notifies you when they might need to go next to help prevent accidents. The other thing we did instantly when we got home was to hang a bell on the back door and teaching Snug how to hit the bell each time he needs to go outside and it has worked miracles. It is nothing fancy, it literally is a bell tied on some ribbon and he hits it with his mouth or nose when he needs to go. I am sure there are tons of other methods that works well but this seems to be working really well for us.

Now that Snug is 12 weeks ago, I have been looking at different Puppy Training programs and/or Doggie Day Cares for Snug and I wanted to share them here on the blog as a resources along with some of my favorite places to shop for Snug too!
